Sirona

Sirona is an oral, non-pharmacological weight-loss treatment developed by Oxford Medical Products. It consists of a proprietary dual-network polymer hydrogel delivered in a pill format that expands significantly upon reaching the stomach. This physical expansion reduces available gastric volume, inducing a feeling of satiety and leading to a reduction in daily caloric intake by approximately 400 kcal. Sirona is primarily targeted at overweight and obese individuals with a BMI between 25 and 35, a population often underserved by pharmacological interventions like GLP-1 receptor agonists. Additionally, it is being developed as a maintenance therapy to prevent weight regain in patients transitioning off GLP-1 medications. Clinical pilot data have demonstrated sustained weight loss and a favorable safety profile, with adverse events limited to mild gastrointestinal symptoms.
