Sirop Sédal

Sirop Sédal is a medical device developed by Laboratoires Élerté for the management of both dry and productive coughs. It functions through a mechanical mechanism of action rather than a pharmacological one, creating a protective mucoadhesive film that coats the pharyngeal mucosa. This film serves as a physical barrier, protecting the throat from contact with external irritants such as allergens, pathogens, and environmental pollutants (smoke, cold air). This barrier effect helps to soothe irritation and reduce the urge to cough. Additionally, the formulation promotes the hydration of mucus, reducing its viscosity and facilitating its physiological clearance in cases of productive cough. It is typically composed of natural ingredients including honey and botanical extracts such as marshmallow (Althaea officinalis) and plantain (Plantago lanceolata).
