siSETD5 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the SETD5 (SET Domain Containing 5) gene. SETD5 is a histone lysine methyltransferase that plays a significant role in epigenetic regulation and has been implicated in the progression of various cancers, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). By targeting SETD5 mRNA for degradation, siSETD5 reduces SETD5 protein levels, which in turn suppresses tumor cell proliferation and invasion, induces apoptosis, and downregulates the interferon-mediated inflammatory response and glycolytic activity (specifically by reducing PKM expression). Research indicates that siSETD5 can inhibit tumor growth in preclinical xenograft models, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic strategy for HCC.
