Overview

siSNAI is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to knock down the expression of the SNAI gene, specifically SNAI1 (also known as Snail). SNAI1 is a zinc-finger transcription factor that plays a critical role in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and the regulation of 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (PGDH) in various cancers, including pancreatic cancer. By silencing SNAI1, siSNAI reduces cellular proliferation and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production. Research indicates that SNAI1 acts as a transcriptional regulator of PGDH, and its knockdown can mimic or enhance the effects of other treatments, such as Vitamin D3, in suppressing pancreatic cancer cell growth.
