Drug intelligence / Profile preview
siSPARC is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapy designed to silence the expression of SPARC (Secreted Protein Acidic and Rich in Cysteine), a matricellular protein associated with excessive collagen deposition and fibrosis. By reducing SPARC expression, siSPARC effectively decreases collagen production in tissues, making it a promising anti-fibrotic treatment. It has been formulated with various delivery systems including gelatin-tyramine hydrogels and hyaluronic acid microneedle patches to enhance stability, protection from RNase degradation, and cellular uptake.
