Overview

Sisunatovir is an orally administered, small molecule inhibitor developed for the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections. It specifically targets and binds to the RSV fusion (F) protein on the viral surface, inhibiting F protein-mediated fusion with host cell membranes and thereby preventing viral entry into cells. This mechanism blocks RSV replication, reduces viral load, and decreases disease severity. Sisunatovir has been investigated in clinical trials for use in infants, children, immunocompromised patients, and older adults at risk of severe RSV infection. The drug was originally developed by ReViral and is now being advanced by Pfizer following acquisition[1][3][4][5][6][7].
