Originally developed by ReViral and subsequently acquired by Pfizer, sisunatovir acts by preventing the RSV envelope from fusing with the host cell membrane, thereby blocking viral entry and replication. **Midazolam** is a short-acting benzodiazepine that serves as a sensitive probe substrate for the cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) enzyme. In clinical trials, this combination is administered to healthy participants to determine if sisunatovir acts as an inhibitor or inducer of CYP3A4 by measuring changes in the pharmacokinetics of midazolam.
