SITANOW-M

SITANOW-M is an oral fixed-dose combination medication developed by Intra Life for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus. It consists of sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, and metformin, a biguanide. Sitagliptin enhances the body's natural incretin system by inhibiting the enzyme that degrades incretin hormones, leading to increased insulin synthesis and release from pancreatic beta cells and decreased glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells. Metformin works primarily by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. This dual-action small molecule therapy is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults.
