siVEGF is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to inhibit the expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) at the genetic level through RNA interference. VEGF is a key protein involved in angiogenesis, a process crucial for tumor growth, ocular neovascular diseases, and other conditions. By silencing VEGF gene expression, siVEGF aims to block the biological effects of VEGF, thereby inhibiting angiogenesis, tumor proliferation, and metastasis. It is often delivered using various nanocarrier systems to improve stability, targeting, and cellular uptake, and is being investigated in combination therapies with chemotherapeutics or photodynamic therapy to enhance anti-tumor efficacy and overcome resistance.
