Siwu Ejiao Decoction

Siwu Ejiao Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation primarily used to treat blood deficiency and bleeding disorders. It is a modified version of the classic Siwu Decoction (Si Wu Tang), which consists of four core herbs: *Rehmannia glutinosa* (Shu Di Huang), *Angelica sinensis* (Dang Gui), *Paeonia lactiflora* (Bai Shao), and *Ligusticum chuanxiong* (Chuan Xiong). The addition of *Colla Corii Asini* (Ejiao or donkey-hide gelatin) enhances its ability to nourish blood and stop bleeding. In clinical research conducted by Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, the decoction is specifically investigated for the treatment of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in patients presenting with the TCM syndrome of "qi failing to keep blood." The formulation is intended to regulate immune function, modulate immune cell expression, and promote platelet production.
