Overview

SIX1 shRNA is a short hairpin RNA designed to silence the expression of the SIX1 (Sine Oculis Homeobox Homolog 1) gene. SIX1 is a homeobox transcription factor that, when overexpressed, promotes cell proliferation, survival, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in various cancers, including T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). By targeting SIX1 mRNA for degradation via the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, SIX1 shRNA reduces SIX1 protein levels, thereby impairing the proliferation and viability of leukemia cells, particularly those driven by the CALM-AF10 translocation. This approach is being investigated as a potential therapeutic strategy to disrupt the SIX1/EYA2 axis in hematologic malignancies.
