Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Size-Isolated Microbubbles (SIMBs) are a proprietary drug delivery platform developed by Advanced Microbubbles. These are stable, monodisperse, lipid-coated gas microbubbles engineered in specific sizes (e.g., 2, 4, or 6 microns). When administered intravenously and triggered by focused ultrasound at a target site, the microbubbles oscillate and create mechanical effects that transiently and noninvasively open biological barriers, most notably the blood-brain barrier (BBB). This mechanism enables the localized delivery of various therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, proteins, and gene therapies, to treat brain tumors and other neurological diseases where the BBB typically prevents effective drug penetration.
