Overview

siZNF217 is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and knock down the expression of Zinc finger protein 217 (ZNF217), a transcription factor and putative oncogene that is amplified in 20-30% of breast cancers. By silencing ZNF217, siZNF217 inhibits breast tumor progression, metastasis, and chemoresistance. Research indicates that knockdown of ZNF217 downregulates the secretion of angiogenic factors such as VEGF-A, PDGF-AA, and PDGF-AB/BB, thereby suppressing endothelial cell sprouting and angiogenesis. It also decreases the expression of VEGFR-2 (KDR) in breast cancer cells, suggesting an inhibition of autocrine VEGF-A signaling.
