Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sj-B6 mRNA vaccine is a veterinary self-replicating RNA (repRNA) vaccine candidate designed to prevent Asiatic schistosomiasis, a neglected tropical disease caused by the parasite *Schistosoma japonicum*. The vaccine targets the secretory serine protease inhibitor (serpin) Sj-B6, which is expressed during the intra-mammalian life cycle stages of the parasite, particularly in the eggs, and is believed to play a role in disease transmission and host immune modulation. The vaccine utilizes HDT Bio's proprietary LION™ (Lipid InOrganic Nanoparticle) carrier platform to adsorb and stabilize the repRNA, allowing it to persist longer in vivo. It is being developed as a transmission-blocking veterinary vaccine, particularly for bovines, to interrupt the parasite's life cycle and reduce transmission to humans.
