SJP-0008

SJP-0008 is an orally administered small molecule calpain inhibitor developed by Senju Pharmaceutical. It acts by selectively inhibiting calpain, a calcium-dependent cysteine protease implicated in neurodegeneration and ischemia-reperfusion injury. The drug has demonstrated neuroprotective effects in preclinical models and clinical studies, particularly for central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO), a condition with significant unmet medical need due to the lack of effective treatments.
