Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SJP-004 is a small molecule therapeutic candidate being developed by Sen-Jam Pharmaceutical for the treatment of arthritis. The drug utilizes a dual mechanism of action designed to address both inflammation and pain by targeting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes while simultaneously modulating or stabilizing mast cells. This approach aims to provide a more comprehensive anti-inflammatory effect compared to traditional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) by mitigating mast cell-mediated inflammatory responses. As of early 2024, SJP-004 is in the discovery stage of development as part of Sen-Jam's pipeline of repurposed molecules for novel therapeutic uses.
