Overview

SJP-0131 is a long-acting recombinant human erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA) developed by Suzhou Shengji Pharmaceutical for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD). It acts as an agonist of the erythropoietin receptor (EPOR), stimulating the production of red blood cells by promoting the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow. By utilizing protein engineering to extend its circulating half-life, SJP-0131 aims to provide a more convenient dosing schedule compared to short-acting erythropoietin alfa or beta, thereby improving the management of renal anemia in patients both on and off dialysis. It is currently undergoing Phase 3 clinical evaluation in China.
