Overview

SK02 (also referred to as SK2) is a novel nitrated [6,6,6]tricycle-derived small molecule research compound developed by researchers at Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan. Chemically, it features an n-butyloxy group built on a benzo-fused dioxabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane core framework. Preclinical in vitro studies have demonstrated that SK02 possesses significant antiproliferative and apoptosis-inducing properties against oral cancer cells, with its efficacy being highly enhanced when used in combination with Ultraviolet C (UVC) irradiation. The compound's mechanism of action involves the induction of oxidative stress and DNA damage, which subsequently triggers the activation of caspase-dependent apoptotic pathways. SK02 has shown a favorable selectivity profile, exhibiting potent inhibitory effects on oral cancer cells while having only minor impacts on normal oral cells. It is currently a preclinical research compound with no formal clinical development program or commercial brand name identified.
