SKCG-1 siRNA is a small interfering RNA used as a research tool to silence the expression of the SKCG-1 (Small Kidney Cancer Gene-1) gene. SKCG-1 is identified as a growth regulatory gene and potential tumor suppressor in human kidney cancers, including Wilms tumor and renal cell carcinoma (RCC). In experimental settings, siRNA-mediated knockdown of SKCG-1 in kidney epithelial cells (such as HEK293) leads to increased cell growth, increased DNA synthesis, upregulation of Cyclin D1, and downregulation of p53. While the gene itself is a therapeutic target for restoration, the siRNA is primarily utilized in functional characterization studies to demonstrate the gene's inhibitory role in cell proliferation.
