Overview

SKCPT (also known as SKI 306X) is a botanical drug and symptomatic slow-acting drug for osteoarthritis (SYSADOA) developed by SK Chemicals. It is a purified herbal extract formulated from three traditional medicinal plants: *Clematis mandshurica*, *Trichosanthes kirilowii*, and *Prunella vulgaris*. SKCPT exerts anti-inflammatory and cartilage-protective effects by inhibiting glycosaminoglycan degradation and suppressing catabolic gene expression in human osteoarthritis chondrocytes. In clinical trials, SKCPT has demonstrated non-inferiority to the NSAID celecoxib in reducing pain and improving joint function in patients with knee osteoarthritis, while offering a safety profile that may avoid the long-term gastrointestinal and cardiovascular side effects associated with traditional NSAIDs.
