SKF-91488

SKF-91488 is a small molecule inhibitor of histamine N-methyltransferase (HNMT), the enzyme responsible for the degradation of histamine. By inhibiting HNMT, SKF-91488 prevents the breakdown of histamine, resulting in increased levels of endogenous and exogenous histamine. It acts as a noncompetitive inhibitor with a Ki value around 0.9 µM and has been used primarily in research to study the physiological roles of histamine, including modulation of pain threshold and vascular responses in animal models. It does not exhibit direct agonist activity at histamine receptors[1][2][3][5].
