Overview

SKF7 is a proprietary, standardized bio-extract of the Labisia pumila plant (also known as Kacip Fatimah), native to Malaysia. It is developed as a botanical therapeutic for obesity and metabolic disorders. Preclinical and clinical studies indicate that SKF7 reduces body weight, BMI, waist circumference, and waist-to-height ratio in individuals with obesity. The mechanism of action appears to involve inhibition of visceral fat accumulation and normalization of blood glucose and lipid profiles. The extract contains polyphenols such as gallic acid which have demonstrated anti-inflammatory activity through inhibition of enzymes like elastase and COX-2. SKF7 has been approved as a traditional medicine in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, received FDA clearance in the US as a dietary supplement (not pharmaceutical drug), and is under further development for potential use against diabetes, cancer, and COVID-19.
