SKI2670 is an orally active, non-peptide, small molecule antagonist of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor, currently under development by SK Chemicals. It binds to the human GnRH receptor with subnanomolar affinity, effectively suppressing the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. This suppression leads to a reduction in the production of gonadal hormones, which is a therapeutic strategy for managing hormone-dependent conditions such as endometriosis and other uterine disorders. Preclinical studies in rat models have shown that SKI2670 can cause the regression of ectopic endometrial implants without the significant bone loss often associated with other hormonal therapies. Clinical development has included Phase I trials evaluating the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of the drug in healthy female subjects.
