Overview

SKIC-03 is an investigational mRNA-based therapeutic designed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. Developed by West China Hospital, Sichuan University, the drug consists of mRNA encoding a dual-target chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) directed against B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) and G protein-coupled receptor class C group 5 member D (GPRC5D). Unlike traditional CAR-T therapies that involve ex vivo genetic modification of T cells, SKIC-03 is administered as an injection, potentially allowing for in vivo generation of CAR-expressing cells or transient expression to mitigate long-term toxicities. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 dose-escalation study to assess safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy.
