SKNY-1 is a next-generation, oral small molecule drug candidate in preclinical and early clinical development for the treatment of obesity and smoking cessation. It is designed to modulate cannabinoid receptor pathways, specifically acting as an antagonist at both the cannabinoid CB1 and CB2 receptors. Additionally, SKNY-1 targets monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B), an enzyme involved in dopamine metabolism and addiction regulation. This multi-target mechanism aims to regulate appetite, metabolism, energy balance, and nicotine dependence by addressing key neurochemical pathways implicated in metabolic dysfunction and addiction. The drug was initially developed by SKNY Pharmaceuticals and has been acquired by MIRA Pharmaceuticals for further development[1][2][3][4][5][7].
