Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SKP-021 is a topical transdermal patch formulation containing 0.3% ketoprofen (30 mg per patch), developed by PROMO INTERNATIONAL SRL. As a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), ketoprofen works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, which are responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain and inflammation. SKP-021 is indicated for the treatment of acute traumatic painful inflammatory musculoskeletal conditions, including sprains, strains, bruises, contusions, and back pain. It has been evaluated in a Phase III clinical trial where it demonstrated non-inferiority in pain relief and safety compared to a diclofenac sodium patch when applied twice daily for seven days.
