Overview

Skyvaricella is a live attenuated vaccine developed by SK bioscience Co., Ltd. for the active immunization and prevention of varicella (chickenpox). It is a preparation of the Oka/SK strain of live, attenuated varicella-zoster virus, propagated in human diploid cells (MRC-5). The vaccine works by inducing an immune response to varicella infection. It obtained marketing approval in Korea in June 2018 and received WHO Pre-qualification (PQ) certification in 2019. SK bioscience is also conducting a global Phase 3 clinical trial to evaluate a 2-dose regimen of Skyvaricella.
