Overview

Skyvira is a co-packaged oral antiviral medication developed by Promomed for the treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in adults. It consists of nirmatrelvir, a SARS-CoV-2 main protease (Mpro, also known as 3CLpro) inhibitor, and ritonavir, a CYP3A inhibitor that serves as a pharmacokinetic enhancer to increase nirmatrelvir plasma concentrations. By inhibiting the viral protease, nirmatrelvir prevents the processing of polyprotein precursors, thereby halting viral replication. Promomed conducted Phase III trials (JTBC00201) in Russia to support its registration as a generic alternative to Paxlovid, and it received approval from the Russian Ministry of Health in April 2022.
