Overview

SL65.0472 is a small molecule mixed antagonist of the 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) receptors 5-HT1B and 5-HT2A. Developed in the early 2000s by Sanofi (formerly Sanofi-Synthelabo), the compound was primarily investigated for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension and thrombosis. By blocking both 5-HT1B and 5-HT2A receptors, SL65.0472 inhibits serotonin-induced vasoconstriction and platelet aggregation, which are critical factors in vascular pathology. Preclinical animal models demonstrated that the drug possesses potent antiplatelet and antithrombotic properties with minimal direct hemodynamic side effects at therapeutic doses. Despite its promising preclinical profile, development of the compound appears to have been discontinued.
