Overview

SL7207 is an attenuated, auxotrophic strain of *Salmonella enterica* serovar Typhimurium, specifically characterized by a mutation in the *aroA* gene. This mutation prevents the synthesis of essential aromatic amino acids, rendering the bacteria dependent on external sources and limiting its virulence in host tissues. SL7207 is extensively studied as a live bacterial vector for cancer immunotherapy and vaccine delivery. In preclinical models, such as melanoma, systemic administration of SL7207 has demonstrated the ability to arrest tumor growth by remodeling the tumor microenvironment. It promotes a pro-inflammatory state by inducing the expression of Th1 cytokines, including interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and interleukin-12 (IL-12), and by recruiting Ly6C+ MHCII+ inflammatory monocytes to the tumor site.
