Overview

SLAMF3 CAR-T is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy engineered to target the signaling lymphocytic activation molecule family member 3 (SLAMF3), a surface protein expressed on certain hematologic malignancies. As with other autologous CAR-T therapies, patient T cells are collected and genetically modified ex vivo to express a synthetic receptor that recognizes and binds to the SLAMF3 antigen on tumor cells. Upon reinfusion into the patient, these modified T cells can selectively identify and destroy cancerous cells expressing SLAMF3. The primary mechanism of action is immune-mediated cytotoxicity against malignant cells bearing the target antigen. This approach is part of a broader class of immunotherapies being explored for relapsed or refractory blood cancers.
