Overview

SLC-0111 is a small molecule, ureido-substituted benzenesulfonamide that acts as a selective inhibitor of carbonic anhydrase IX (CA IX) and carbonic anhydrase XII (CA XII), with high affinity for these transmembrane isoforms compared to cytosolic CA I and II. CA IX and XII are predominantly expressed in the hypoxic tumor microenvironment, where they contribute to tumor growth, metastasis, and maintenance of cancer stem cells by regulating pH. Inhibition of these enzymes by SLC‑0111 leads to reduced tumor acidity, significant antitumor/antimetastatic effects, and decreased cancer stem cell numbers. The drug is being developed primarily for the treatment of advanced solid tumors including pancreatic cancer[3][4][6][7][9].
