SLC-149

SLC-149 is a preclinical small molecule inhibitor targeting Carbonic Anhydrase IX (CAIX), an enzyme primarily expressed on the surface of hypoxic tumor cells. Developed by SignalChem Lifesciences, SLC-149 is an imidazole-substituted benzene sulfonamide derived from a novel chemical scaffold. CAIX plays a critical role in maintaining intracellular pH and promoting cancer cell survival and metastasis under hypoxic conditions. In preclinical studies, SLC-149 has demonstrated potent inhibitory activity against CAIX in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) models, showing superior efficacy compared to standard inhibitors like acetazolamide. The program is being developed in collaboration with Welichem Biotech, and the developer SignalChem Lifesciences was acquired by Sino Biological in 2024.
