Overview

Slimthru is a weight management dietary supplement developed by the Dutch company DSM. It is formulated as a liquid emulsion containing a proprietary blend of oat oil and palm oil. The product's mechanism of action is based on the 'ileal brake' effect; the specific lipid structure is designed to resist early digestion in the stomach and proximal small intestine, allowing the oils to reach the ileum. The presence of these undigested lipids in the distal small intestine triggers the release of satiety hormones, which prolongs the sensation of fullness and suppresses appetite, ultimately leading to reduced daily calorie intake. Slimthru was marketed as a 'shot' that could be consumed directly or mixed with various foods and beverages like yogurt, coffee, or tea. Its commercial availability has become limited in recent years, suggesting it is no longer actively marketed.
