Slit-trap is an experimental therapeutic compound designed to starve cancer cells by interfering with Slit signaling pathways, which are implicated in pathological angiogenesis and neovascularization. Developed by the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences in collaboration with Sanofi, it functions as a trap for Slit proteins, preventing their interaction with Robo receptors to inhibit tumor vascularization. It was planned for first-in-human clinical testing in China targeting liver cancer around 2013, though no recent updates confirm progression beyond preclinical stages.
