Overview

Slit2N is the N-terminal fragment (120-140 kDa) of the secreted glycoprotein Slit2, which serves as a ligand for Roundabout (Robo) receptors, particularly Robo1. It inhibits HIV-1 transmission from dendritic cells to T-cells by blocking HIV-1-induced cytoskeletal rearrangements, including filopodial extensions, through suppression of signaling pathways involving Cdc42, Src, Arp2/3, Diaph2, WASp, and interactions with Flightless-1 (Fli1). Slit2N has been studied in recombinant form for potential therapeutic applications in viral infections, vascular stabilization, inflammation, and neuroprotection, with research exploring its roles in HIV inhibition, hemorrhagic fever, and nerve repair.
