Overview

SLN098 is a preclinical small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic being developed by Silence Therapeutics for the treatment of obesity. The drug utilizes Silence's proprietary siRNA platform to target and silence the *INHBE* (Inhibin subunit beta E) gene in the liver. Human genetic evidence indicates that individuals with loss-of-function variants in the *INHBE* gene exhibit a healthy metabolic profile, characterized by reduced abdominal fat and a decreased risk of type 2 diabetes. By specifically silencing *INHBE* mRNA, SLN098 aims to mimic this protective genetic phenotype to provide a novel approach for weight management and metabolic health improvement. As of early 2024, the program is in preclinical development, with further data expected in 2026.
