SLS-007 is an experimental, peptide-based gene therapy program being developed by Seelos Therapeutics for synucleinopathies such as Parkinson’s disease, Lewy body dementia, multiple system atrophy, and Alzheimer’s disease. It consists of a family of rationally designed peptidic inhibitors (including lead peptides S62 and S71) that bind the non-amyloid component core (NACore) region of alpha-synuclein to prevent its aggregation, thereby aiming to arrest seeding and propagation of toxic alpha-synuclein species.[1][4][7][9] SLS-007 is being evaluated predominantly via adeno-associated virus (AAV1/2) vector delivery for sustained intraneuronal expression of these inhibitory peptides, representing a potentially disease-modifying approach for intracellular alpha-synuclein aggregates in Parkinson’s disease and related disorders.[1][2][4][7][9][10][11]
