Overview

SLS-012 is a Captisol-enabled formulation of acetaminophen (paracetamol) developed by Seelos Therapeutics under a license from Ligand Pharmaceuticals. The product utilizes Ligand's proprietary Captisol technology—a chemically modified sulfobutylether β-cyclodextrin—to enhance the solubility and stability of acetaminophen. This formulation is intended for the treatment of pain and fever, particularly in settings where an injectable or rapid-onset delivery is advantageous, such as post-operative pain management. While acetaminophen's exact mechanism is complex, it is generally understood to inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes in the central nervous system and modulate descending pain pathways.
