Overview

SLU-0010894 is a phenothiazine-derived small molecule and a sulfoxide analog of CWHM-974. It was developed as a research tool to investigate the role of calmodulin (CaM) binding in the anti-cancer activity of phenothiazine derivatives. In comparative studies, SLU-0010894 was shown to lack CaM binding activity and, consequently, failed to demonstrate anti-cancer efficacy in various cancer cell lines. This lack of activity served to validate that the anti-cancer properties of related compounds, such as CWHM-974, are mediated through CaM inhibition rather than through the inhibition of dopamine or serotonin receptors. The compound was synthesized and evaluated by researchers at St. Louis University and the University of Iowa.
