SLV317

SLV317 is a small molecule neurokinin 1 receptor antagonist developed by Solvay. It acts as an orally active and highly effective antagonist of substance P-induced effects in humans. Preclinical studies demonstrated that SLV317 reduces visceral hypersensitivity to colonic distension in animal models and exhibits antidiarrheal activity. In clinical studies, it showed substantial inhibition of substance P-induced venodilation in healthy volunteers. The drug was primarily investigated for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), with additional potential for inflammatory bowel disease due to its effects on visceral pain and inflammation. Despite promising pharmacodynamic results, development has been discontinued[1][3][9].
