Overview

SLV342 is a selective neuropeptide Y receptor Y2 (NPY2R) agonist that was developed by Solvay Pharmaceuticals and later Abbott Laboratories. It was designed as an anti-obesity agent to mimic the satiety-inducing effects of the endogenous peptide YY (PYY). By activating NPY2 receptors in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus, SLV342 aimed to reduce appetite and food intake. The compound entered Phase 1 clinical trials (NCT00663910) to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy male subjects. However, development was discontinued following Abbott's acquisition of Solvay in 2010.
