SM (ADAR) is a discovery-stage small molecule therapeutic candidate being developed by SoftMining. The program targets Adenosine Deaminase Acting on RNA (ADAR), an enzyme that converts adenosine to inosine in double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) substrates. In many cancers, ADAR1 is overexpressed and suppresses the innate immune system by editing endogenous dsRNA to prevent it from activating pattern recognition receptors like MDA5. By inhibiting ADAR, the drug aims to trigger a type I interferon response and enhance the tumor's sensitivity to immune checkpoint inhibitors. SoftMining utilizes its proprietary computational drug discovery platform to identify and optimize these inhibitors for potential applications in oncology.
