SM-hUCMSC secretome is a cell-free therapeutic candidate derived from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSCs) cultured in a specialized serum-free medium (SM). Developed primarily by S-Evans Biosciences, this secretome contains a complex mixture of bioactive paracrine factors, including cytokines, growth factors, and extracellular vesicles such as exosomes. It exerts its therapeutic effects through anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and pro-regenerative mechanisms, mediating the beneficial effects of MSC therapy without the risks associated with live cell transplantation, such as tumorigenicity or immunogenicity. The secretome is being investigated for its potential in treating various inflammatory and fibrotic conditions, including liver cirrhosis, acute lung injury, and autoimmune disorders, by modulating immune cell activity and promoting endogenous tissue repair pathways.
