Overview

Small hairpin RNA (shRNA) targeting P2RX4 is a gene-silencing therapeutic or research tool designed to reduce the expression of the P2X purinoceptor 4 (P2RX4) protein. P2RX4 is an ATP-gated ion channel that facilitates calcium influx and has been implicated in various pathological processes, including inflammation, neuropathic pain, and cancer progression. In the context of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), P2RX4 knockdown via shRNA has been shown to inhibit tumor cell proliferation and migration by suppressing calcium-mediated PI3K/AKT signaling and modulating the immune microenvironment. This modality leverages the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway to achieve long-term silencing of the target gene.
