Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**SMART102** is an allogeneic cell therapy product consisting of human T-lymphoid progenitor cells derived from umbilical cord blood using Smart Immune's proprietary ProTcell™ platform. These progenitors are designed to home to the patient's thymus, where they differentiate into a full repertoire of functional, polyclonal T-cells, accelerating immune reconstitution post-allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Developed primarily to address the unmet need in HSCT patients with hematological malignancies, where delayed T-cell recovery leads to high risks of infection, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), and relapse, SMART102 is administered alongside unmanipulated cord blood grafts in a double cord-blood approach. The therapy has shown promising early safety data in Phase I/II trials, with no dose-limiting toxicities reported, and is being evaluated for its ability to reduce non-relapse mortality and improve overall survival.[2][3][9]
