Overview

SMC-180 is a small molecule agonist of the Stimulator of Interferon Genes (STING) protein, developed by JW C&C Research Lab (a subsidiary of JW Pharmaceutical). It is designed as an immuno-oncology agent to stimulate the innate immune response within the tumor microenvironment. By binding to STING, SMC-180 triggers the production of type I interferons (IFN) and other pro-inflammatory cytokines, which in turn promotes the activation and recruitment of dendritic cells and T-cells to attack solid tumors. Unlike first-generation cyclic dinucleotide STING agonists that require intratumoral injection, SMC-180 is a non-nucleotide small molecule designed for systemic administration. The compound is currently in preclinical development, with research focusing on its efficacy as both a monotherapy and in combination with checkpoint inhibitors.
