SmofKabiven Peripheral

SmofKabiven Peripheral is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, three-chamber bag system for parenteral nutrition, developed by Fresenius Kabi. It contains a combination of amino acids, electrolytes, dextrose, and a unique four-oil lipid emulsion known as SMOFlipid, which comprises soybean oil, medium-chain triglycerides, olive oil, and fish oil. The Peripheral version is specifically formulated with a lower osmolarity (approximately 850 mOsm/L) compared to the central venous version, allowing it to be safely administered through a peripheral vein. This formulation is designed to provide balanced nutritional support, including essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, to adult patients for whom oral or enteral nutrition is impossible, insufficient, or contraindicated.
