SMT003 is a preclinical small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic candidate developed by SirnaMed for the treatment of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL). The drug is designed to silence the expression of SERPINB9 (Serpin Family B Member 9), an intracellular protein that acts as a potent inhibitor of Granzyme B. In many cancers, including certain lymphomas, overexpression of SERPINB9 allows malignant cells to evade apoptosis triggered by cytotoxic T lymphocytes and natural killer (NK) cells. By reducing SERPINB9 levels, SMT003 aims to restore the susceptibility of tumor cells to Granzyme B-mediated programmed cell death, thereby enhancing the efficacy of the host's anti-tumor immune response.
