Overview

SMT004 is a preclinical-stage small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic being developed by SirnaMed for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The drug is specifically engineered to target and silence the expression of mutant forms of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), which are prevalent drivers of oncogenesis and resistance in lung cancer patients. By utilizing the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, SMT004 facilitates the degradation of mutant EGFR mRNA, leading to a reduction in the corresponding oncoprotein levels and subsequent inhibition of tumor cell proliferation and survival.
